Lauren & Justin got married on a crisp winter Saturday in Chicago. It was the first weekend of December, and the city was all aglow in holiday lights and festive cheer. The couple had their first look at the Dana Hotel, and Lauren was absolutely breathtaking in a tulle Vera Wang ballgown. After some fun and brisk portraits in Olive Park, we headed to the stately St. Michael’s Cathedral in Old Town where the couple tied the knot in an emotional ceremony. Zipping around downtown afterwards was so much fun with these two, whose easy demeanor and warmth toward each other was truly a joy to capture. There is just something about winter nights on Michigan Ave that gets us in the holiday spirit. The beauty of the city, coupled with the excitement of marriage and the love of family and good friends, made for a magical experience that we were proud to be a part of. We warmed ourselves in the MCA, and even waded through a pack of Santas before making our way to the Newberry Library for Lauren & Justin’s intimate and elegant reception. The event had the feel of old Chicago luxury and sophistication, with candlelight and warm amber uplighting setting the perfect tone for a night of heartfelt speeches and excellent food. As the night progressed, it became apparent that Lauren, Justin, and their guests can balance their sophistication with a romping, rowdy dance floor. The windows were literally steamed as guests worked the floor to eclectic dance mixes, spun by DJ Major Taylor. This wedding is one of our favorites of the year, and we won’t soon forget how much fun it was to be a part of this group. We feel honored to have captured all the special moments between Lauren & Justin, and their loving families and friends. Many thanks to these two for letting us join their fabulous wedding day.
