I have just returned from fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada after attending my 2nd WPPI conference and Expo.  For those of you who aren’t familiar, that stands for Wedding and Portrait Photographers International.  It’s a week of classes, networking, product testing, and just plain partying with 20,000 other professional photographers.  I highly recommend it if you’re a photo maker like me.
Here’s a fact about me:  I am bad at telling time.  Scratch that, I’m bad at having a clear perspective of time on my own life.  What I mean by that is, I have a hard time remembering if something was a year ago or two years ago, or even three.  I’ve always chalked that up to “living in the moment.”  Going to WPPI again this past week was great in so many ways, but partly because it gave me a real perspective on what 365 days can do.  I now had a reference point for all of the amazing things one year can bring.
So, for those of you who know me, you know I got married in that year.  I also traveled to Thailand and Mexico with my now husband.  I also had the most successful year to date for my photography business. When I landed on the tarmac in Vegas one year ago, I was in a different space mentally.  I was nervous, and I had those nagging doubts about myself that probably plague us all at one point or another.  Who knew that just one year later I would land on the very same tarmac in Vegas and pull up my photography on TODAY.com  Yes–my New Year’s Eve wedding from 2013 was published on TODAY.com for a story entitled “Winter Weddings to Love.”  Looking back on the past year has made me feel very proud and humbled.  Thank you to all of my amazing clients– past, present, and future.  You have assured me that I am right where I’m supposed to be in life.  Here’s to TODAY and the next 365.  And cheers to Vegas.
